  • Yes! While we are trained to handle sexuality issues, we are also trained as generalist therapists. There are many cases we work with where sexuality is not the primary focus of the work.

  • Nope! Sex therapy can be suited for individuals, relationships, or families.

What does cost and insurance look like?

  • Our self-pay rate is $150 per 60-minute session. We can also provide superbills if your insurance can provide out-of-network reimbursement.

  • We currently work with Anthem, Aetna, United Healthcare, Medical Mutual, and Cigna. Caleb Sargent takes Medicaid Managed Care Plans. Hallie Poor takes Caresource Managed Medicaid Plans.

  • Sliding-scale and reduced cost sessions are offered for clients that cannot afford the full rate for therapy. These sessions are offered depending on clinician availability and are decided on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to admin@pomsextherapy.com to discuss further.

  • We offer a limited amount of reduced rate sessions. There is no income requirement for these sessions, as income alone does not reflect someone’s access to therapy. We will have a direct discussion with you and discuss what rates and frequency can work. There are a limited amount of these slots, so we ask that if you can pay the full rate for therapy that you do not take a reduced rate slot. However, there is no need to feel hesitant to reach out if a reduced rate slot would make therapy accessible for you. We will have an honest and direct conversation about what we can offer you, and there will be no resentment or changes in the therapeutic relationship.

We give priority to clients who represent our values or are a part of groups who more often have limited access to good therapy. This may include:

    • Activists

    • Sex workers

    • Refugees

    • BIPOC (Black folks, Indigenous folks, and People of Color)

    • Mental health workers

    • Trans and nonbinary individuals

    • People with chronic health issues

    • People who have had abusive and/or stigmatizing mental health experiences or treatment (inpatient, outpatient, hospitalizations)

Can you tell me more about sex therapy?

  • Sex therapists are uniquely trained to understand and treat sexuality issues. These may include sexual dysfunction (ED, trouble reaching orgasm, changes in libido), relationship issues, gender issues, sexual orientation issues, and anything else under the broad spectrum of sexuality.

However, we are also trained as generalist therapists, and often work with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. Sex therapy may involve exploring the sexual effects of these mental health issues.

  • We believe strongly that sex therapy can be for everyone. It is our priority to cultivate a safe, affirming, and anti-oppressive environment for all identities and their intersections. Sex therapy is for anyone who has ever felt curiosity, confusion or shame around their sexual experiences, relationships, desires, body, gender, or identity.

  • No, there are no prior life or sexual experiences required for beginning sex therapy. We will meet you exactly where you are.

  • Some people come into therapy with specific goals or topics of focus, and other times people come in looking for help in their exploration or with setting goals.

We will walk you through all administrative needs via email prior to the first session.

  • Caleb currently has a waitlist for clients looking to schedule. Hallie is currently taking a limited number of new clients. Please reach out to admin@pomsextherapy.com to get on the waitlist or to schedule a phone consultation.
